About the Order of the Southern Star

Our Mission

The Order of the Southern Star is actively engaged in :

Supporting the autonomy and self-determination of the Mapuche people: In a spirit of solidarity and respect, our organization provides concrete support for initiatives that promote the rights, traditions and cultural independence of the Mapuche people. We recognise and respect their legitimate struggle for genuine autonomy over their ancestral lands.

Preserving the memory of the Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia : Founded in 1860 by Orélie-Antoine I (Antoine de Tounens) and the highest Mapuche leaders Toqui Magnil and Lonkos’ Kilapan, Kalfukura Montril, Quilahueque, Marihual; Lemunao; Huenchuman and Huentecol, among others. This Kingdom embodies a unique history of resistance and the quest for independence. The Order of the Southern Star strives to maintain this memory, to transmit it to future generations, and to recall the Kingdom's historical commitment to the Mapuche people. 

Supporting the legitimate Royal Household of Araucania and Patagonia: We accompany the Royal Household in its mission of representing the Kingdom, providing it with the necessary support to maintain the historical, cultural and social ties that unite it with the Mapuche people.
